Once upon a time in a wonderland of my thoughts, I realised that I am an Introvert. I need to think things through very thoroughly before expressing an opinion. I also like change, especially when it changes something for the better.

So, when I found myself in a job where I constantly told that I was too quiet, where they wanted opinions and comments on everything from day one, but weren’t open to changing anything, I knew it wasn’t for me.

After leaving that job, I wanted to make sure that wherever my life took me next was better aligned to bring me joy and happiness. So I started this blog as to the way to connect to other people and help each other find joy.

What is an Introvert?

The word introvert word comes from Latin. The word intro means "to the inside" and vertere means "to turn". That’s a pretty good way of describing us introverts, as we tend to turn inward mentally.

An introvert is often thought of as a quiet, reserved, and thoughtful individual. They don't seek out special attention or social engagements, as these events can leave introverts feeling exhausted and drained.

It is very important to know that introverts don't hate being social. Also, introverts will prefer social engagement with fewer people, especially people they know very well.

What is an Extrovert?

The first part of an extrovert is a variation of the prefix extra, meaning “outside” and the Latin vertere, meaning “to turn”. Etymologically, introverts turn inward and extroverts turn outward.

Most people believe that an extrovert is a person who is friendly and outgoing. While that may be true, that is not the full meaning of extroversion. An extrovert is a person who is energized by being around other people. This is the opposite of an introvert who is energized by being alone.

Why this is important to know?

You are thinking why should I do care and does it matter if you are an introvert or an extrovert?

Well, if you are in the right environment for you, then you will thrive. If not, you struggle to fit in and use up precious energy. You will feel depleted, without knowing the true reason.

It’s important to understand your temperament. Work with it and you will lead a happier, more fulfilling life!
